Allergy Testing
Screening is designed to help pinpoint the cause of allergic/ sensitivity symptoms. The method used is through venipuncture ( blood testing) which involes a single needle puncture. The test measures levels of immunoglobin E (IgE) which is an antibody produced by the immune system that causeas an allergic or sensitivity reaction. Small amounts of the antibody can be found in the blood.
A blood test measures and detects a reaction to a particular allergen. Blood testing is commonly used for patients who may be taking medications that can interfere with the results of a skin test; for patients with a skin ailment such as eczema or psoriasis; and in cases where a test may cause a strong reaction to a certain allergen.
This type of testing can help the practitioner understand the cause of various symptoms including: sinus conditions, gastroentistinal symptoms ie IBS/IBD/ colitis, migraines, rashes, eczema, etc.
